Barbara 3.3.0 is here! Updates are simpler, deployments are more flexible, network management is more autonomous, and security is stronger than ever. Let’s dive into the key highlights.

Say goodbye to the split between Barbara OS and Node Manager. Starting with this release, your firmware is unified into a single, cohesive package: Barbara Core. No more tangled dependencies between two separate components, no more jumping through intermediate versions just to stay current. You can now go straight to the latest release from any version. In a single click.
The update experience itself has been completely rethought. The process is now fully transparent, giving you real-time visibility into every phase as it happens: what's running, what's completed, and what's coming next. No more black-box updates; you're in the loop from start to finish.

We've fundamentally changed how Over-The-Air (OTA) updates work by separating the download phase from the deployment. These are now two distinct, independently controlled steps. That means you decide when to consume bandwidth and you separately decide exactly when the update gets applied to your device.
This gives your operations team real scheduling power. Plan firmware updates for the maintenance window that makes sense for your workload. And don't forget: paired with Barbara's high availability features, rolling out updates across your entire edge fleet with zero downtime is not just possible — it's straightforward.
We've also baked in an intelligent download mode that actively manages bandwidth consumption, making sure updates don't saturate your connection. Particularly valuable for devices running on limited or metered data SIMs, where every megabyte counts.

The Standalone access feature keeps gaining traction — and we're committed to growing it with you. This release brings meaningful new capabilities to Standalone mode: you can now configure your proxy settings directly from Barbara Core, without ever touching Panel. NTP server configuration and comprehensive modem diagnostics are available there too.
The goal is simple: full network visibility and control, right on the shop floor, directly against the machine. Whether you're in the middle of a deployment, running maintenance, or troubleshooting a connectivity issue, you won't need a connection to Barbara Panel. That said, everything remains accessible from Panel as well, so your existing workflows stay intact.
At Barbara, security is a core feature, not an afterthought. That's why we're making two-factor authentication mandatory for every user on the platform, effective immediately. The next time you log in, you'll be prompted to enter a verification code delivered to your email. From there, you can continue using email-based codes or upgrade to an authenticator app for a faster, more seamless experience.
Not every improvement deserves a headline — but they all deserve to ship. This release includes a solid round of targeted fixes and quality-of-life improvements throughout the platform, with particular focus on Audit Logs. We've also shipped several enhancements to the API, giving those developers building on top of Barbara more consistency and flexibility to work with.
