Cloud-Grade Resilience Now at the Edge. Plus Smarter Collaboration and Organizational Control

We are proud to announce Barbara Platform v3.1.0, a game-changing release that introduces High Availability (HA) support to bring unprecedented resilience, uptime, and fault tolerance to edge computing. With this launch, Barbara takes a major leap forward, delivering the kind of robustness typically found in the cloud, now optimized for the edge.

This version also includes a redesigned Organization View for better license management, and a new feature that improves team coordination by showing who is working on an edge node in real time.

But make no mistake: High Availability is the star of this release. It redefines how mission-critical services run at the edge—automatically, continuously, and without interruptions.

High Availability for Edge Workloads

No More Single Points of Failure. No More Downtime.

Barbara now brings High Availability (HA) capabilities to edge environments, powered by Docker Swarm. Create robust clusters, distribute services intelligently, and keep your operations online, even when individual nodes go offline.

Cluster Information view

Key Highlights:

  • Cluster Creation: Group edge nodes into high-availability clusters. Services stay running even if a node fails.
  • Persistent Volumes: Ensure critical data persists across reboots or failovers.
  • Virtual IPs (VIPs): Floating IPs shift automatically between healthy nodes for seamless service continuity.
  • Swarm Overlay Networks: Enable secure, scalable communication between containers in the cluster.
  • Smart Node Configuration: Use labels and network filters to define role-based behaviors and traffic rules.
  • Zero-Downtime Upgrades: Nodes can be drained during firmware updates, keeping services uninterrupted.
  • Global Configuration Sync: Cluster-level changes are automatically propagated across all member nodes.

Unified Management at Cluster Level:

  • Swarm Config Dashboard: Get real-time visibility into leadership, membership, and tokens.
  • Secrets and Credentials: Manage Swarm secrets and Docker registry credentials centrally and securely.

Scalable Deployments Made Simple:

  • Multi-Mode App & Model Deployment: Deploy apps or AI models cluster-wide using multiple strategies (Replicated, Global, Replicated-job, Global-job).
  • Placement Constraints: Fine-tune workload placement based on node roles or attributes.

This is the new standard for edge reliability. High Availability in Barbara makes edge environments as robust and manageable as modern cloud systems.

Redesigned Organization View. Clearer Insight, Better Control

The new Organization View gives users a crystal-clear picture of their license usage and entitlements—ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.

Organization View

Key Highlights:

  • Key license details at a glance: Quickly see your license type and duration, time remaining, and any optional license packages included.
  • Usage Overview: Understand your current limits and usage, including used versus allowed amounts for Edge Nodes, Users, Market Standard Workloads, and Premium or User-Defined Workloads.

Your edge operation is now easier to manage, scale, and audit.

Work as a team, avoid collisions

We’ve added a simple yet powerful feature to boost real-time collaboration at the edge. Now, when accessing an edge node’s detail view, you can instantly see who else is working on that node.

View of multiple users

Key Highlights:

  • Shared visibility: Instantly see who else in your organization is working on the same node, providing transparency into shared usage.
  • Real-time coordination: Coordinate changes in real time to avoid conflicts and overlapping actions.

Improved Security and Bug Fixes

  • Strengthened Security: A comprehensive security update has been implemented to safeguard against vulnerabilities, ensuring a more secure and resilient environment.

  • Bug Fixes & Performance Boosts: Minor issues have been resolved, resulting in improved stability and optimized performance across the platform.
